Description
This collection documents the publication and marketing of R.A. Scotti's Sudden Sea, published in 2004. The collection includes photographs of the aftermath of the storm provided to Scotti by survivors as well as promotional material, the text of speeches and other material related to the promotion of the book.

The collection is arranged in two series: 1. Material relating to Sudden Sea. 2. Photocopies of material relating to Scotti's other publications, the originals of which are housed at Loyola University's Archives and Special Collections.

Biographical or Historical Data
Rita A. Scotti was born in Providence, Rhode Island on December 25, 1943 to Dr. Ciro Ottorino Scotti and Ursula Dwyer. She completed her undergraduate degree at Loyola University. As a journalist she worked for the Providence Journal and the Newark Star-Ledger. Her career as an author includes several works of fiction and non-fiction. Sudden Sea is a non-fiction account of the 1938 hurricane that devastated New England. Scotti died in 2010.
